Except for Bank Holidays </p> <p> The nursery is owned and managed by Carolyn Nicholson and was established in 2005 by Carolyn who used her vast experience in children s physical health and education. The nursery enjoys an excellent reputation and demand for nursery places is high. The fully qualified staff team are gentle and caring and are the key to the nursery s success. </p> <p> Carolyn is passionate about the importance of high quality day care and the lifelong impact it can have on the early years of children s lives. </p> <p> The early years are absolutely crucial in the development of a child s future prospects; it is well researched and documented that early years can have a transformational impact on the way a child develops personally, socially and cognitively. </p> <p> The planning and delivery of what we do in Victoria House is absolutely essential to ensuring the children in our care get the maximum benefit from their experiences. </p> <p> Quality assurance is a key indicator for any setting. We constantly look at our own provision and evaluate what needs to improve, it is essential that we are flexible to change. Another key element is our relationship with parents. Our ethos is based on loving kindness which begins with the child, parent and each other and weaves a circle that binds us together as a family within the bounds of nursery. </p> <p> <strong>We Constantly Strive to be the Best</strong> for parents who entrust their children into our care. Thank you for entrusting your children into our care. </p> <h2> <span class="mainpageheading">Health and Safety </span> </h2> Safety issues are given the highest priority indoor, and outdoor provision undergo rigorous risk assessments are completed and updated in accordance with the DHSS Guidelines on a daily regular basis and our policies are accessible to read at any time. Please ask a practitioner if you wish to see them. <p> Our staff team are fully trained and the majority have a Senior Management degree award in Early Years. They undergo regular health and safety training both in house and externally, including Child Protection, First Aid, Environmental Health and Safety, and Food Hygiene. </p> <p> The staff team is trained to be aware and vigilant ensuring that your children are kept safe, Records are maintained and a confidentiality policy is in place. </p> <h2> <span class="mainpageheading">Physical Development </span> </h2> Physical development is a specific area of learning within the Early Years Foundation curriculum and is the backbone to our planning of the daily life of the nursery. <p> A Physical development programme is in place and daily movement involving dance drama, indoor and outdoor sports and games are generously woven in to our daily routines. . </p> <p> Carolyn has a background in health and Fitness and for many years ran the successful FIT Kid programme on the island. This programme has been incorporated into the daily life of the nursery within the E.Y.F.S framework and every child at Victoria House benefits from opportunities, challenges and experiences that come with the Fit Kid Ideal. </p> <h2> <span class="mainpageheading">Our approach to living a healthy lifestyle </span> </h2> At Victoria House we have a holistic approach to healthy living and it is an integral part of our curriculum. The Children are encouraged to participate in the preparation of their own snacks on a regular basis. At Victoria House we look at a broad range of different cuisines from across the world which is linked into planning for the early years and foundation to develop and understanding of the world. <p> The Early years foundation curriculum now places a significant emphasis on play based learning and this is wholeheartedly embraced at Victoria House. </p> <p> This approach has proven to : </p> <ul> <li>Help children manage risk, safety and hazard. </li> <li>Promote engagement and achievement and this in turn motivates children to persevere in learning. ng.</li> <li>Fosters conflict resolution, decision making and assists in developing a sense of belonging.</li> <li>Facilitates our pupils to develop flexible and creative approaches to learning and problem solving.</li> </ul> <p> Positive appraisal has proved to have a significant impact and increases development success rate. In the seven years that Victoria House has been operating Carolyn (Principal) has wholeheartedly adopted this approach becoming a true convert to it and the aforementioned success which it can bring about. </p> <h2> <span class="mainpageheading">How to Register </span> </h2> <p> Parents are welcome to visit Victoria House at any time when considering registration their child with us. Please telephone to make an appointment with Carolyn, the nursery s owner and Principal. </p> <h2> <span class="mainpageheading">Availability </span> </h2> <p> Places are in demand with parents registering several months ahead. All enquiries are welcome and we recommend parents to contact us to discuss availability before registering their child. Once we have established a place is available parents may complete the registration form from the parent handbook or download it from www.victoriahousenursery.com (show new link when added) </p> <p> Please return completed forms to us together with a £40 deposit. On acceptance of your application you will be asked to forward the equivalent of your first month fees which will be held as a deposit and in trust. This fee will be deducted from your final month s fees before your child starts school. </p> <p> Victoria House offers outstanding quality care for children and provides a service funded entirely by parental fees. We are committed to ensuring affordable childcare for all and work together with the Department of Social Security whilst accepting childcare vouchers. </p> <p> There are varying degrees of financial support which you may be able to receive to help you with the cost of your childcare and the type of help you can receive depends on your individual circumstances. Please contact us directly for any help or assistance on this matter. </p> <h2> <span class="mainpageheading">Quality and Awards </span> </h2> <p> Victoria House has recently completed an eighteen month period of inspection which has culminated in the achievement of the Manx  Step into Quality Award. linked in partnership to Lancashire Education Authority. </p> <p> The receipt of this award establishes <strong>Victoria House</strong> as one of the <strong>BEST</strong> nurseries on the Island. </p> <p> We have strong links with the Isle of Man College of Education and the Department of Education which support Victoria House in being reflective and transparent whilst encouraging us to achieve best practice as well as identifying the next steps for the development of our setting.
